Curriculum & PE Curriculum

At Francis Baily we aim to inspire and excite learners by:

  • developing inquisitive minds, a spirit of curiosity and a passion for learning
  • being equipped with the skills to fully participate in an ever changing world.
  • developing and building on prior learning both in school and in their wider lives.
  • putting the pupils at the centre of the learning experiences by allowing them to make decisions about the learning journey.

From when the child enters Francis Baily, we ensure our curriculum is child focused. In Foundation Stage 2 the curriculum encompasses all 17 of the early learning goals, encouraging children to be independent and thoughtful learners.

From Key Stage 1 up, we plan from the 2016 Curriculum, using the objectives to create cross curricular links and encourage children to use and apply their learning across all areas. We enrich the curriculum by ensuring the children go on numerous trips related to their learning in the classroom. We have a highly trained sports coach who ensures that all teachers deliver high quality PE sessions. We have music specialists that further develop our pupils musical understanding. We used the Agreed Syllabus to plan RE. This ensures that all our pupils develop a clear understanding of different religious beliefs and have a clear concept of the key British values.  We strive to understand each and every child and therefore embrace diversity.
